Student safety, classroom control, and device management with Lightspeed

We help Australian schools design, deploy, and hand over Lightspeed Filter, Classroom, Alert, StopIt, Insight, Signal, and MDM — so your team can protect students and support learning with confidence.

A connected platform for safer digital learning

Lightspeed Systems builds software for K–12 schools that need visibility and control across student devices, online activity, classroom focus, and edtech investment. The products work as a suite: filtering and safety tools reinforce each other, classroom tools help teachers stay in charge of learning time, and analytics and device health views help IT make better decisions.

New Gauge Digital implements Lightspeed for schools as a focused project — design, configure, train, and hand over to your team so they can run the platform day to day.

  • Safety & wellbeing

Protect students from harmful content and surface serious risk early — with tools built for school teams, not generic workplace filters.

  • Teaching time

Give teachers practical classroom control so devices support lessons instead of becoming a constant distraction.

  • IT clarity

Understand devices, apps, and network health so technology spend and support effort go where they matter most.

  • One connected suite

Filter, Classroom, Alert, Insight, Signal, MDM, and StopIt are designed to work together — so policies and workflows stay coherent.

Lightspeed StopIt

Anonymous tip reporting for students, staff, and families — with two-way messaging, case workflows, and 24/7 escalation paths so concerns can be raised and resolved safely.

Lightspeed Insight product interface
Analytics

Lightspeed Insight

Edtech analytics that show which apps are used, where money is wasted, and where privacy or compliance risk sits — so leaders can answer hard questions with clear data.

Lightspeed Signal product interface
Health & performance

Lightspeed Signal

Device, app, and network health in one view — spot outages, idle hardware, VPN or proxy risk, and connectivity problems before they flood the helpdesk.

Lightspeed Filter — secure hybrid content filtering

Filter is Lightspeed’s core content filter for schools: layered enforcement on Chromebooks, Windows, Mac, iOS, and agentless BYOD or IoT traffic. Policies stay consistent on and off campus, with deep visibility into searches, YouTube, social platforms, and emerging AI tools — without relying only on traditional proxies.

Why it matters: students move between school and home networks every day. Device-level protection and clear reporting help IT keep learning open while reducing cyber risk and distraction.

Lightspeed Classroom — focus for teachers and students

Classroom gives teachers real-time visibility and control during lessons: monitor screens, limit tabs, close off-task browsing, differentiate groups, and surface daily highlights. It also includes digital hall passes and support for AI activity awareness in class.

Why it matters: devices only improve learning when teachers can keep the room on task. Classroom is built for everyday teaching, with IT-friendly scale and training resources for large rollouts.

Lightspeed Alert — earlier visibility into serious risk

Alert scans online activity for signs of self-harm, violence, bullying, exploitation, drugs, and weapons — including text and images across common school tools and AI chat platforms. High-risk cases can be reviewed by Lightspeed safety specialists, with workflows for counsellors, safety teams, and IT.

Why it matters: warning signs often appear online before a crisis is visible in person. Alert is designed to reduce noise and give school teams clearer, actionable context — including after hours when risk does not stop.

Lightspeed StopIt — anonymous reporting that gets heard

StopIt lets students, staff, and parents report concerns anonymously via app, web, phone, or QR posters — with photos or other evidence when needed. Administrators manage cases with two-way anonymous messaging, while 24/7 monitoring supports urgent escalation.

Why it matters: many students will not speak up face to face. A trusted anonymous channel lowers barriers and helps schools coordinate response across counselling, leadership, and safety teams.

Lightspeed Insight — edtech decisions backed by usage data

Insight shows which apps and devices are actually used — by grade, campus, and student — including in-school and out-of-school patterns. Schools use it to find unused licences, redundant tools, privacy policy changes, and apps that should be blocked or approved.

Why it matters: leaders need more than gut feel for renewals, training, and compliance. Insight turns raw activity into answers boards, finance, curriculum, and IT can act on. It connects well with Classroom app requests and Filter enforcement when the suite is used together.

Lightspeed Signal — device, app, and network health

Signal gives IT a single place to watch app outages and latency, device health and utilisation, security signals such as VPN or proxy use, and connectivity quality on and off campus — including Device Missing Mode for lost hardware.

Why it matters: classrooms feel technology first when something breaks. Signal helps teams fix issues earlier, reassign idle devices, and plan infrastructure with real performance data rather than ticket noise alone.

Lightspeed MDM — scalable school device management

MDM provides cloud control of school devices and apps: hierarchical admin roles, remote policy deployment, timed restrictions, self-service app libraries, inventory, and recovery tools for lost or stolen hardware. It integrates with Apple programmes such as DEP, Managed Distribution, and Apple Classroom workflows.

Why it matters: fleets only stay teachable when enrolment, apps, and policies can be managed at scale. MDM reduces desk-side work and keeps devices ready for learning across campuses.

How the products work together

A typical modern school stack might use Filter for always-on protection, Classroom for lesson-time focus, Alert and StopIt for student safety pathways, MDM for fleet control, and Insight plus Signal for decisions and operational health.

Lightspeed positions these as a connected platform — for example, teacher app requests from Classroom can flow into Insight for review, with non-approved apps blocked in Filter. We help you choose a coherent combination for your school, then implement it cleanly rather than bolting tools together ad hoc.

How we implement Lightspeed

Project-based delivery for schools — design, deploy, train, and hand over.

01

Discover

Understand your devices, platforms, safety goals, teaching needs, and what you already have in place.

02

Design

Agree which Lightspeed products to deploy, policy approach, roles, integrations, and success measures.

03

Deploy

Configure agents, policies, console structure, and integrations — carefully phased for school calendars.

04

Train

Practical sessions for IT, teachers, and safety or wellbeing staff so the tools are used, not just installed.

05

Hand over

Documentation, admin ownership, and a clean transition so your team runs Lightspeed day to day.

  • Independent & government schools

Schools that want specialist help standing up Filter, Classroom, safety tools, or MDM with clear documentation and handover to their own team.

  • Teams with internal IT

We work alongside your staff, document decisions, and leave you in control after go-live.

  • Alongside Apple projects

Often delivered with JAMF, Apple Business Manager, or UniFi networking so devices, network, and safety tools fit together.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need every Lightspeed product?

No. Many schools start with Filter and Classroom, then add Alert, StopIt, Insight, Signal, or MDM as needs grow. We help you choose a practical starting set.

What happens after go-live?

Your team owns day-to-day administration after training and handover. If you need changes later, we can scope a discrete follow-on project.

Does this work with Apple devices?

Yes. Filter and related agents support multi-OS environments including Mac and iOS, and MDM integrates with Apple deployment programmes. Classroom screen monitoring has platform limits set by Apple on iOS; we design around that honestly.

Can Lightspeed sit alongside JAMF or UniFi?

Often yes. Many schools use Lightspeed for safety and classroom control while using JAMF for Apple fleet management and UniFi for campus networking. We design integrations and boundaries so tools do not fight each other.

Are you part of Lightspeed Systems?

No. We are an independent professional services firm. Lightspeed product names are trademarks of Lightspeed Systems. Product descriptions on this page summarise public Lightspeed positioning; final designs are school-specific.
