Apple for schools — devices students and staff actually want to use

Mac, iPad, and iPhone designed for teaching and learning — with MacBook Neo making a full Mac experience more accessible for 1:1 fleets, staff laptops, and shared learning spaces. New Gauge Digital designs, deploys, and hands over Apple programs that fit Australian schools.

Why schools choose Apple

Apple hardware is built for long battery life, strong security foundations, and a consistent experience across Mac, iPad, and iPhone. In education that translates into devices students can carry all day, staff who spend less time fighting their tools, and IT teams that can enrol, configure, and support fleets through Apple School Manager and modern MDM.

New Gauge Digital helps Australian schools plan product mix, procurement readiness, enrolment, management (Jamf and Lightspeed where appropriate), networking with UniFi, and clear handover so your team can run the environment day to day.

  • Learning-ready devices

Fast, quiet hardware with all-day battery and apps that support writing, creativity, coding, and collaboration — without the noise of underpowered notebooks.

  • One ecosystem

Mac, iPad, and iPhone share familiar gestures, iCloud continuity, and management pathways so mixed fleets still feel coherent for students and staff.

  • Built for fleets

Apple School Manager, Automated Device Enrolment, and strong MDM options mean devices can arrive supervised and ready for class — not as personal gadgets bolted onto school policy.

  • More accessible Mac

MacBook Neo brings a full Mac experience to a new price tier for education — opening 1:1 Mac options that were hard to justify at previous MacBook Air entry points alone.

MacBook Neo — the Mac story for education

When schools talk Mac, start here: a full Mac experience at a breakthrough accessibility tier, with the design and management model Apple fleets already know.

Made for everyday learning

Web, documents, research, creative apps, FaceTime, and on-device AI workloads. A18 Pro is designed for the work students and teachers do all day — not only light browsing.

MacBook Neo battery life lifestyle
All day

Battery that lasts the school day

Up to 16 hours of battery life (Apple published figures) so carts, 1:1 programs, and staff laptops spend less time hunting for power boards between periods.

MacBook Neo features and claims reflect Apple public materials (A18 Pro, Liquid Retina, battery life, finishes, Apple Intelligence / macOS). Product availability, configurations, and education pricing are set by Apple and authorised resellers. New Gauge Digital is an independent professional services partner — not Apple.

Why MacBook Neo matters for school Mac fleets

MacBook Neo is Apple’s entry Mac for 2026: powered by the A18 Pro chip (6-core CPU, 5-core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine), with 8GB unified memory, configurable storage, a bright 13-inch Liquid Retina display, Magic Keyboard, Multi-Touch trackpad, 1080p FaceTime HD camera, and dual speakers with Spatial Audio. It runs full macOS with built-in apps and Apple Intelligence capabilities — so students get a real Mac, not a locked-down mini-OS.

Where it fits: 1:1 student Mac programs, shared laptop trolleys, teacher and admin workhorses for documents and collaboration, and migration paths from ageing Windows or Chromebook fleets where schools want creative and productivity depth without specifying MacBook Air or Pro for every seat.

Where you step up: heavier media production, advanced STEM workloads, or long-horizon staff machines may still belong on MacBook Air (M-series), MacBook Pro, or desktop Macs. We help schools right-size the mix — Neo as the accessible volume Mac, Air/Pro where performance pays off.

  • MacBook Air

Best for: staff who live in productivity and creative apps, longer ownership cycles.
    Chip: Apple silicon M-series
Focus: thin, silent performance headroom above Neo.

  • MacBook Pro / Mac desktops

Best for: media, design, coding, labs, specialist staff.
    Chip: higher M-series configs
Focus: sustained performance and professional I/O.

iPad in the classroom

iPad remains a workhorse for younger years, creative subjects, and highly portable 1:1 programs. With Apple Pencil, keyboards, and education apps, it supports drawing, annotation, coding, and multimedia without the form factor of a traditional laptop.

Schools often run MacBook Neo or Air for secondary productivity and iPad for primary and specialist use — or a blended model. We design enrolment, Shared iPad where it helps, app deployment, and classroom-friendly restrictions so devices stay learning tools first.

  • Apple School Manager

Organisation identity, Automated Device Enrolment, Apps and Books, and the foundation for supervised fleets. Related: Apple Business / School Manager setup.

  • Jamf for education

Jamf School for school-focused MDM, or Jamf Pro as the flagship platform for larger or more complex environments. Jamf overview.

  • Lightspeed Systems

Filtering, classroom management, safety alerting, and related school tools that sit alongside Apple devices. Lightspeed suite.

  • UniFi networking

Reliable campus Wi‑Fi and switching so Mac and iPad fleets actually connect when the bell goes. UniFi design & deployment.

Frequently asked questions

Is MacBook Neo good enough for student 1:1?

For everyday learning — research, documents, collaboration, media consumption, and many creative and coding tasks — yes, that is the point of Neo: a full Mac at an accessible tier. Heavy video production, advanced CAD, or specialist STEM may still need Air, Pro, or lab desktops. We help you map subjects and year levels to the right mix.

MacBook Neo vs MacBook Air for schools?

Neo is the volume / accessibility play. Air (M-series) adds performance headroom and is often preferred for staff or longer-lifecycle machines. Many schools will use both: Neo for students, Air or Pro for roles that justify it.

Do you sell the hardware?

We design the program and deliver setup, management, and related projects. Hardware is typically purchased through your preferred Apple education channel; we coordinate so enrolment and deployment stay clean.

How does this work with Jamf and Lightspeed?

Apple School Manager plus MDM (Jamf School or Jamf Pro) handles enrolment and device policy. Lightspeed can provide filtering, classroom tools, and safety products on top. We design the stack so policies do not fight each other.

Are you part of Apple?

No. We are an independent professional services firm. Apple, Mac, MacBook, iPad, iPhone, Apple School Manager, and related names are trademarks of Apple Inc. Product descriptions summarise public Apple positioning.
